This class covers: trenching and shoring basics, an overview of soil mechanics, determination of soil types, testing equipment, methods for evaluating soil types, shoring types, shielding types, sloping and benching, spoils, special health and safety considerations, and a sample site assessment form.  Prior to the final written exam, students will have the opportunity to perform soil testing using at least two different methods.
