Tractor and Baler working hard in the fieldAgricultural and Industrial tractors have long been the back bone of farm work. Whether used for food ag or other industrial purposes tractors have held the top spot as the most used piece of farming equipment. While there is no denying the many benefits of tractors, and the roll they play in today’s agriculture and farming industries, we must not forget the need for careful considerations with regards to safety while operating these powerful machines

The Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) reports that tractors today remain the leading source of fatalities and injuries on the farm. With “tractor rollovers” and “power take off” (PTO’s) being among the most common causes of injuries and fatalities.

If you own or operate industrial/agricultural tractors or have hired workers that operate tractors, it is of great importance that you ensure the proper steps are taken to ensure both yours, and their safety.

Tractor Safety Training like that provided by California Safety Training Corporation can assist in informing, educating, and empowering workers with the knowledge to work around, and operate tractors safely, as well as meet requirements set forth under Cal-OSHA Title 8 3441. Amongst which are topics like-

  • Training requirements and frequency. Are you certified?
  • Guarding requirements- Are you COVERED?
  • When are riders allowed on tractors?
  • Information with relation to “Roll Over Protective Structures” (ROPS) and exemptions.
  • The importance and expectations around equipment inspections.
  • and much more.
